Why This Exists

Part cinema, part living room, part excuse to eat popcorn with friends.

A Place to Gather

Squamish is known for its incredible outdoor spaces. People come here to climb, bike, hike, and explore the mountains and ocean that surround us.

But when the sun goes down, there are far fewer places where people can simply gather, relax, and spend time together.

This project is an attempt to change that.

We are currently running a pilot series of community film nights, experimenting with what this space could become and building it together with the people who show up.

A Community Living Room

We are building something a little different from a traditional movie theater.

Instead of rows of seats and quiet crowds, we imagine a cozy living room filled with couches, small tables, warm lighting, and conversation before and after the film.

Movies are the anchor, but the real goal is creating a space where people want to linger, connect, and feel at home.

Whether someone comes for a film night, a themed event, or simply to spend time with friends, we want this space to feel welcoming, relaxed, and unmistakably ours.

Why It Matters

It is becoming harder to find places that are not work, not school, and not home, but somewhere people can simply exist and be around others.

This is especially true for young people.

Our goal is to create a space where teens, adults, and families can all feel comfortable. A place that is affordable, welcoming, and shaped by the community itself.

Something small, but meaningful, in the cultural life of Squamish.

Be Part of It

This is still in its early stages, and that is intentional.

By starting small, we can shape this space with the community instead of for it.

Come to a screening. Bring a friend. Move a couch. Stay a while.

Help us figure out what this becomes.
