It Takes a Few People to Make This Happen
The screen doesn't put itself up. We've checked.
Couch Club is a community project, and every event takes a handful of people willing to pitch in.
Sometimes that means helping set up the screen and speakers. Sometimes it's making popcorn, welcoming people, moving couches or helping us pack everything away at the end of the night.
You don't need to know anything about projectors, events or suspiciously complicated audio equipment. We'll show you what needs doing.
Mostly, we need people who are willing to show up and help make the night happen.
Pick Your Adventure
There's plenty to do. None of it requires a résumé.
Setup Crew
Screens, speakers, tables, couches and an unreasonable number of cables.
Popcorn Department
Popcorn, snacks, drinks and keeping the concession stand vaguely under control.
Front of House
Say hello, answer questions and help people figure out where everything is.
Tech Crew
Projectors, sound, microphones and pressing buttons with confidence.
Fun & Games
Games, contests, activities and whatever strange thing we've decided to do this time.
Teardown Crew
Help make it look like none of this ever happened.
No Experience Necessary
Seriously. We'll show you.
Never set up a projector? Fine.
Don't know an XLR cable from an extension cord? Also fine.
You don't need to know anything about projectors, events or suspiciously complicated audio equipment. We'll show you what needs doing.
Only available once in a while? Still fine.
Some people might want to become regulars. Others might help at one event because it's happening in their neighbourhood. Both are useful.
If you're friendly, reasonably reliable and willing to pitch in, we can probably find something for you to do.
More Than Carrying Couches
We don't just need extra hands. We need extra brains.
Have an idea for an event? Tell us.
Know a great place we could pop up? Definitely tell us.
Want to organize something, take photos, make a ridiculous concession item, design a poster, run a Mario Kart tournament or contribute some skill we haven't realized we need yet?
There's room for that too.
Couch Club gets more interesting when the people around it start making it their own.
